The California Philharmonic holds its sixth annual Cal Phil Family Night on July 25, 2008 at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden in Arcadia. The orchestra offers this free concert for L.A. County families and children, providing a much-needed remedy to the lack of symphonic music and music education activities during the summer.

Last year’s Cal Phil Family Night, held on September 7, 2007, was the most successful to date! Nearly 2,000 residents from L.A. County attended the concert demonstrating the great demand for live orchestral music. Word is out that this is the fun way to introduce live performance of classical music to kids and their caregivers. What’s more, there’s all sorts of fun to be had before the concert!

Family Night allows the California Philharmonic to give back to the community. The event provides families with fine symphonic music in a comfortable, informal and natural environment—all for free. Cal Phil Family Night whets the appetite for live music and offers stimulating musical activities and training for children. Music education booths offer conducting, a drawing station, and “Build Your Own Instrument” factory, to name a few. The Arboretum also provides free tram tours of their beautiful facility for event attendees. All are welcome to attend this exciting and educational event.

Dress casually and prepare yourself for a fun-filled experience.

The 2008 Cal Phil Family Night will take place on Friday July 25th. We are currently working to expand the breadth and scope of the event, with the music education activities and tram tours of The Arboretum tentatively scheduled to begin at 5:00pm.
Keep checking back here for updated information about the 2008 Family Night.
